Welcome back!

Welcome back after what we hope has been a restful and enjoyable holiday.

The children have been brought back to earth with a bump today as we have launched into our final term preparing the children for their move to secondary school, whilst still, of course, enjoying their final term at Crabtree Junior School.

Preparation for this mile stone move does involve a much stronger focus on behaviour, attendance, a mature working ethic and of course, homework.

For this half term there will be three very clear pieces of homework set, maths on a Monday, science on a Wednesday and reading comprehension and spellings on Friday. There is an expectation that children will spend the full 30 minutes at least on each piece, more if areas of weakness have been identified in lessons or at last term’s consultations.
If homework books are full or very tatty it would be helpful for children to have an A4 ring binder type folder with their name for work to be stored. All homework will be sent in the form of A4 sheets of paper. Working out and answers need to be on lined for literacy or science or squared paper which it will be the children’s responsibility to collect from the relevant classroom supply.
Homework will be marked in lesson time with the children on the day that it is due.

As we will not be starting any new topics this side of half term Year 6 will send out a topic web at the end of May.

A reminder that PE is on Tuesday and Fridays and when the weather improves it should be outside. Please ensure that children have the relevant equipment including sun hats and water bottles when appropriate.

Thanks again for your cooperation,

The Year 6 Team
