Another week gone and already we are half way through this half term- it doesn't seem possible that time goes so quickly.

The children have been working really hard to investigate things of a scientific nature- I'm sure they can all tell you about what sorts of things will dissolve and what won't. After our Harry Potter launch last week there are a number of pots of highly successful crystals growing on the heaters in the classroom.

Artwork has been quite high priority this week, all with a link to Harry Potter. There are some really talented artists in year 6 and their work is now evident around the classroom display boards. It's worth popping in at the end of the day to see our Harry Potter portraits and people in motion work.

Year 6 will be having a week of interim assessments starting on February 3rd. Please try to avoid dental and other appointments during the mornings of this week.

Hope the weather stays a little drier this weekend as the football team are all desperate to start their matches for the term.

Have a good weekend.

The end of a busy week!

What a great start to our week- thank you to all of you who dressed up for our Harry Potter launch afternoon.

We had great fun investigating magical changes: exploding coca cola, creating sherbet, making colours disappear and then reappear amongst others.

Have a look at some of the pictures below.

I'm sure I had colours before...

It was great to welcome year 6 back this week. After a busy holiday they were all enthusiastic to get started on our new topic of  Harry Potter.

We will be beginning our project on Monday with a science afternoon hoping to bring a touch of magic to the classrooms!
Children are welcome to bring in cloaks, hats and wands to dress up and feel more a part of the magical theme of the afternoon. Please ensure any that are brought in have some form of identification on them- one black witches cloak looks very much like another! Cloaks do not have to be expensive- it's amazing what you can do with a black bin liner. Costumes need to be hung in the cloakroom in the morning- they are just for the afternoon session.
We look forward to exciting afternoon.

If you have seen the school diary dates for the term you will see that we have booked a trip to the Harry Potter Studios as a fantastic finish to our topic. You should have received a letter about this on Friday- Please respond as promptly as possible as we are unable to fully confirm the visit with the studios until we pay for the tickets.

Lots of exciting events and activities are planned for the term ahead and we look forward to sharing some of them with you in our assembly later this term- book the date in your diaries now.

Welcome to 2014!

Hope you all had a great Christmas with Santa delivering most of your wish lists.
2014 has arrived and we would like to wish everyone a very happy new year as we enjoy the last week of the Christmas break.

A huge thank you for the very generous gifts that we received at the end of term.

See you all next week- don't forget that homework on DB Primary- we are looking forward to reading your book reviews. (Not Mrs Carter's Literacy group- you have something else to complete).
